2018 BMW M5 Release Date and New Features
When will the 2018 BMW M5 be available?
The new BMW M5 is expected to make its debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this fall with a projected release date of Winter 2017. Once the new model is officially revealed by BMW, we will have more up-to-date information regarding availability and feature details. For now, here’s what we can expect.
New features of the 2018 BMW M5
The current M550i x Drive is the fastest 5 Series model to date, but the next-gen M5 is expected to top it. In fact, the 2018 BMW M5 may be able to go 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. In order to achieve such an impressive feat, the new M5 will likely be equipped with a refreshed twin-turbo V8 engine that can deliver 600 horsepower. However, it will probably not be available with a manual transmission, since the demand has decreased and the price of production has increased. Unlike the rear-wheel drivetrain of previous M5 models, the next-gen M5 will be equipped with all-wheel drive. Despite all these changes, the 2018 BMW M5 is expected to be about the same weight as the previous generation, thanks to the use of aluminum, high-strength steel, and carbon-fiber.
